General Summary

The Technical Writer is responsible for writing and editing technical documentation for products manufactured by the organization. This person must have good organizational skills and be able to translate technical information, operational instructions and process sequences into laymen's terms.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain installation, configuration, and how-to documents.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, while working independently and with other writers.
  • To learn product through hands-on experience and communication with product team.
  • Complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
  • Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, methods of reproduction and binding.
  • Take digital photographs of products and processes as required to writing technical documentation and operation manuals.
  • Manipulate photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to better illustrate concept or process.
  • Study and understand drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures and production sequences.
Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a technical writing role.
  • Advanced computer skills, especially Microsoft Word and Adobe Creative Suite products.
  • Must have good verbal communication skills.
  • A sample of prior work must be presented at interview.
Key Skills

  • Must be flexible and have the ability to interact with all levels in the organization.
  • Highly motivated individual who is able to grasp complex software and learn technical details quickly.
  • Must be able to work within and meet set deadlines.
  • Associate Degree preferred, however, direct experience in technical documentation will be considered in lieu of a formal education.
