Multi-Drop Permanent Downhole Monitoring System

Product Overview
|
Spartek Systems has developed a new communication backbone for permanent and semi-permanent downhole sensors. This downhole network
can support up to 128 addressable sensors on a single conductor tube wire. In the case of multiple lines, a unique FSK frequency can be used
for each line to virtually eliminate the potential of cross talk. The communication network supports bi-directional communication,
the ability to remove a sensor or gauge from the line (fused), and a proprietary power/communication system that prevents additional sensors from loading the communication
transmission from the downhole addressable sensors. The PDHMS communication backbone allows for monitoring multiple zones, redundancy, and integration
of electronic control systems, without the cost and risk associated with running multiple lines (cable size, tree penetrations, packer penetrations, etc.)
Currently we offer two types of pressure/temperature sensors:
- Sapphire pressure gauge (proprietary piezo-resistive strain sensor)
- Hybrid digital quartz pressure gauge (high resolution, long term stability, quartz)
Both of these gauges use digital data transmission and subsurface signal processing to eliminate the effects of noise from signal transmission and maximize the
accuracy and stability of the measurement. For permanent installations, these sensors are annulus mounted on the production tubing with a specially designed
mounting arrangement capable of either internal (tubing) or external (annulus) sensing. This configuration is connected to the Wellhead
electrical outlet through a monoconductor tube wire strapped to the tubing, thus allowing realtime continuous
readout of the reservoir parameters under dynamic well conditions without production shut-in.
The company is actively developing new sensors for flow and fluid type, and is open to third party developers who are interested in integrating their
measurement or control technology to this communication backbone.

Surface Acquisition Unit
|
The surface acquisition unit (SAU) provides power and acts as a non-volatile memory for downhole
sensors in permanent completions as well as providing the
communication hub for SCADA or real-time data transmission. The SAU links tools downhole though the TEC and WHO. The SAU can be powered using rig power, solar
or wind turbine type supplies. The SAU can be also used to program and interrogate the downhole sensor modules.

Sapphire Pressure Gauge
|
Spartek Systems Permanent Sapphire Pressure Gauge uses proprietary piezo-resistive technology to digitize pressure
and temperature data downhole and then transmit to the surface using a high speed digital telemetry link. Along with
a fully welded corrosive-resistant alloy (based on material selection) design and redundant pressure testable
metal-to-metal cable head, the Permanent Sapphire Pressure Gauge is ideally suited for long term data quality and
reliability.

- 100% welded gauge design with testable redundant metal-to-metal seal cable head
- H2S and CO2 corrosive resistance (with 718 inconel material selection)

- Operating Temperature 125°C

Quartz Pressure Gauge
|
Spartek Systems’ Permanent Quartz Pressure Gauge uses a high resolution digital quartz pressure transducer along with
proprietary hybrid technology to digitize pressure and temperature frequency data downhole and then transmit to the
surface using a high speed digital telemetry link. Along with a fully welded corrosive-resistant alloy design and
redundant pressure testable metal-to-metal cable head, the Permanent Quartz Pressure gauge is ideally suited for
long term data quality and reliability.

Spartek Systems provides a wide range of accessories to help deploy these permanent downhole monitoring systems:
- Fully machined gauge carriers and collar carriers
- Cost effective welded pup joint carriers
- Well Head Outlets (1 to 6 conductors)
- Tube Wire Y-Splitters and Splices
Typical connections utilize metal to metal seals (autoclave). Pressure testable connection are also available.
Sensors can be mounted side by side for redundancy, or ported for tubing and annulus pressure measurements.
